KASUR: Four of a family were killed and two seriously injured when a speeding van hit a donkey cart near Toluwala on Depalpur Road on Friday morning.

The van (LOK-5370), which was coming from Kasur to Allahabad, collided with the donkey cart while overtaking another van. As a result, Ghulam Nabi, Azmat and Abdul Jabbar riding on the donkey cart died on the spot. Three others were injured and taken to hospital where another injured, Kala, also died. The Rescue 1122 staff reached the spot and shifted the deceased and injured to DHQ Hospital. One of the injured was shifted to Lahore General Hospital due to his critical condition. The people caught a driver and handed him over to the police. However, another driver managed to escape. After the incident, relatives of the victims blocked the road by placing bodies on it. Long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the road. After several hours, DPO Khurram Ali and Additional SP Irfan reached the spot and assured the protesters that action would be taken against the negligent drivers. Later, the protesters dispersed.
